Help the Bamboo Patch Sing

Join in the fun with Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens on Friday, August 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. Wear gardening clothes and closed toe shoes. Gloves, hats and glasses are desirable. Refreshments provided.

Come down and help clean the Bamboo thicket and listen to it sing!

Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens Mission

Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens was formed to improve and maintain a 24-acre cultural landscape in the heart of Hilo, Hawaii.
The organization operates on three paths: maintenance, capital improvements, and centennial events. Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens operates with a written Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Department.
Among the major goals of the organization are: to promote beauty through ornamental horticulture, floriculture, and arboriculture; to develop a program of education; to improve and advance the aesthetic and physical beauty of Hilo; to disseminate information in the fields of ornamental horticulture, floriculture, arboriculture, and botany; and to develop relationships with other non-profit public gardens in North America.

General Information
Liliʻuokalani Gardens is a public park in Hilo Hawaii maintained by the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Department. All reservations for use of the gardens should be made with the County.
Liliʻuokalani Gardens is comprised of Mokuola (Coconut Island), Nihon Koen (the Japanese-style landscape), Rakuen (Happiness Park behind Suisan) and Isles, all on the Waiakea peninsula close to Hilo hotels, the port, and the airport.

Friends of Liliʻuokalani Gardens organized in early 2012 and the name was registered with the State of Hawaii.
By-laws, Board of Directors, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Articles of Incorporation were registered with the State of Hawaii in 2013. The IRS determination letter was received in September 2014 with an effective date of exemption set as January 24, 2013.
